Other Galleries and Exhibitions

When touring Denmark we try to see as many galleries, exhibitions and museums as possible. We like to share our adventures with the visitors of this site. The owners and artists of the galleries have not been asked what they would like to be said about them. The reviews and comments simply cover our own opinions.

Galleri Uggerby
Really, this is two art galleries - one in Uggerby and one in Lønstrup. A large selection from Danish and international art. Various exhibitions with the regular artists and guests.

Galleri Munken

Galleri Munken [munken = the monk] is a gallery of modern art in a former small holding. The former stable serves as workshop and exhibition and the former barn and a new-added building make a big and beautiful room of about 250 square metres. Art all over. 12 artists are in stock and the gallery has various exhibitions and events. Very nice homepage with lots of information.

Galleri Munken, Munkensvej 11, Ingstrup, DK-9480 Løkken, phone (+45) 9888 3901, miko@gallerimunken.dk, www.gallerimunken.dk

Lien Kunstcenter

Lien Kunstcenter [Lien Art Centre] was opened in 1967 and has been referred to as 'the Louisiana of Jutland'. Works by famous artists like Asger Jorn, Jens Birkemose and Hans Foigt Steffensen are on display and for sale.

Lien Kunstcenter is situated on a seaside hill with a magnificent view over the North Sea. Besides exhibitions the centre has a café and a restaurant. You can also buy wine, antiques and oriental carpets.

Lien Kunstcenter, Slettestrandvej 82, DK-9690 Fjerritslev, phone (+45) 9821 7766, www.lien-kunstcenter.dk

Dronninglund Kunstcenter
Dronninglund Kunstcenter [Dronninglund Art Centre] has an interesting story. It was built in the 1970's and has ran only for a few years before it was closed down. The organisation Tvind owned the place for almost 15 years and used it for internal purposes until 2001 when citizens of Dronninglund raised the funds to buy it back and opened a museum of contemporary art.

The building itself is interesting reminding you of Utzon's Sydney Opera House. Inside, the facilities are perfect for art exhibitions and lots of exiting things hang on the walls. Various exhibitions, items for sale. A small entry fee is to be paid.

Galleri Frøsig
The ceramists Irene and Per Frøsig have a well earned reputation for renewing and bringing about the ceramic art.
They make - some times even very large - unique works themselves but also have other artists' works on display and for sale.
